Minister Monsef, when will the voting reform process begin?

It’s been five months since the Prime Minister and his cabinet were sworn in, and the clock is ticking on the 18-month deadline the Liberals set to introduce legislation on a new voting system.

The Government has also promised broad public consultation but, with each month that passes, the possibilities for a thorough, participatory and transparent process are slipping through our hands. If enough of us contact the Minister of Democratic Institutions today, we can show the interest and urgency that Canadians are feeling to get this process rolling.

This is the best chance we’ve ever had to bring our voting system into the 21st Century and make sure every vote counts, but we need to have a broad, participatory and transparent national conversation about which new system would serve us best – and we can’t afford to wait.
