Every single day our government fails to deliver on its promise of an arms embargo is another day our country is complicit in the needless death caused by Israel’s current onslaught on Gaza.

Enough is enough. Our MPs are on recess right now — but a flood of emails drawing attention to the unfathomable destruction that they are complicit in could help convince them to take concrete action for a real arms embargo now.

A recent article in the respected medical journal The Lancet estimates that the true scale of death wrought by Israel’s war on Gaza is 186,000, likely more, caused by this reckless and needless war.

As your constituent, I am writing today to ask you to follow through on the arms embargo that Parliament voted for on March 18 2024, and immediately suspend the trade of all military weapons or technology to and from Israel.

I am deeply concerned about the lack of concrete action on an arms embargo against Israel, despite a motion that passed with a majority in the House of Commons. Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly still hasn’t taken any steps to revoke existing military permits, meaning that millions of dollars worth of arms and military technology are still being funnelled to Israel, as it commits what are likely war crimes and violations of international law.

Israel is preventing food, water and humanitarian aid to Gaza - actions that violate international law. As a result, the UN has now declared a famine.

As my MP, I am calling on you to take the following actions:
Write to Foreign Minister Joly to urge her to withdraw permits to arms exporters immediately
Speak out publicly about the Lancet figures of 186,000 potential deaths from Israel’s war on Gaza in public alongside calls for an arms embargo, for example on your public social media channels and in Parliament.

I would deeply appreciate a response indicating whether you have taken these steps.
