Reverse budget cuts to the Toronto Public Library

News broke this week that the Ontario Liberals want to cut $1.4 million from Toronto public libraries over the next two years - which means a reduction in services and maybe even job losses.

The Toronto Public Library system is one of Toronto’s most important institutions, providing services, education, and support to thousands of people every single day. It’s a cultural and social cornerstone of our community, and is used by 70% of Torontonians. It should get the funding it needs.

The budget has been tabled in Ontario’s legislature but it hasn’t been voted on yet. If enough of us come together to pressure the Wynne government, it could be enough to get them to roll back these cuts and restore full funding to Toronto libraries before the budget vote.
