The new Omicron variant — a highly contagious variant of COVID-19 — is leading to a rapid increase in cases across the province. [1] BC is currently lagging behind other provinces with important COVID-19 protection measures. BC residents, especially front-line workers, are being asked to personally protect themselves by wearing masks. The catch? N95 masks, which experts say is one of the safest masks against Omicron, are not only difficult to find but have become increasingly unaffordable for low-income, front-line workers. As front line and healthcare workers put their health at risk to serve British Columbians, they deserve adequate protection from the virus.
