Kids are back to school in BC in just two weeks — but parents and teachers are sounding the alarm that the reopening plan is unsafe, and puts everyone at risk of COVID-19 outbreaks.1,2

Teachers say physical distancing is impossible without smaller class sizes. Parents want mandatory mask use and more funding for safety measures.3,4 This much is clear: the current plan isn’t enough to address the risk of COVID-19.

Premier John Horgan and Education Minister Rob Fleming have both said that the reopening plan needs to be flexible with the changing conditions of the pandemic.5

A groundswell of public outrage now could force Premier Horgan and Minister Fleming back to the drawing board. Will you sign the petition demanding a reduction in class sizes, mandatory mask use, and adequate funding for a safe back-to-school plan?

Premier Horgan and Minister Fleming:

Educators want to be back in the classroom with their students — but they want to do so safely, with significantly smaller class sizes and mandatory masks to reduce the risk of a COVID-19 outbreak.

Create a plan that prioritizes the health and safety of students and education workers.
