Share your story for the Canada Disability Benefit
We’ve created a simple tool to help you record a short video telling your personal story — about why it’s so important that Bill C-22 and the Canada Disability Benefit passes this week, to address the disability poverty crisis.
If we flood MPs' social feeds and inboxes with powerful personal stories about the need for Bill C-22 — they’ll see that they have mass public support for it. It could be enough to convince MPs to make Bill C-22 a priority.
But this will only work if you take a few minutes of your time to record your story. MPs are voting on Bill C-22 this week, so we need to act fast.

How to record your video:
- Before you start: Think about what you want to say. Take a minute or two to gather your thoughts. Your personal story is what's going to have the biggest impact on decision-makers so be sure to speak from the heart.
- Talking points:
- 1) Share what impact the Canada Disability BenefitBill C-22 would have on you, or someone you know with a disability's life.
- 2) You could also talk about the ways in which the Canada Disability BenefitBill C-22 helps ensure that Canadians with disabilities have what they need to live with dignity.`
- 3) Make sure to end by asking MPs to pass Bill C-22 without delay.
- When you're ready to record: press the record button in the tool below (it looks like a small video camera). If you are prompted to turn your camera on, please do so. You can also upload a pre-recorded video using the "upload" button.
- Share your story: After you press the record button and enable your camera, you'll get a 3 second countdown, and then the tool will begin recording.
- Start by saying your name, share your story and your opinion, and remember to speak from the heart.
- Note: You will only be able to record 30 seconds of video, so please be concise.
- When you're done sharing your story, click anywhere on the screen to end the recording.
- Click "Accept" to add your video to the video petition. You can watch your video by clicking "Review Recording" and if you'd like to do it again, click "Re-record". When you're happy with the video, just press "Accept" and it will be added to the video petition.
