“Canada’s top paid CEOs will earn the average yearly income by noon on January 4.” This infuriating headline dominated the news last week.1

To add insult to injury —many of these mega-rich CEOs run companies that received the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS). It’s meant to supplement workers’ wages, but right now there is nothing stopping CEOs from using the CEWS to pay themselves fat bonuses.2

Extreme wealth inequality is getting worse by the minute, and loopholes like the one in the CEWS allow the rich to to line their own pockets with cash while the rest of us struggle to make ends meet.

If you think our public money shouldn't be used by CEOs to pay for their own bonuses - will you add your name to this petition calling on Finance Minister Freeland to immediately ban companies from using the CEWS to payout CEO bonuses?

Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland:

Update the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy and ban CEOs from using our public money to pay themselves big bonuses.
