Sonia Theroux and Logan McIntosh become Co-Executive Directors of Leadnow.ca

We’re thrilled to announce that Leadnow.ca’s search for an Executive Director has concluded with an outcome that’s even better than what we could have imagined at the beginning.

Our search led us to Sonia Theroux, a winning campaigner and empowering leader. With a relationships-first philosophy, she led Lisa Helps’ successful 2014 mayoral election campaign in Victoria, led a team to support 180 riding associations as Director of Mobilizing for a federal political party, and led a capital campaign that raised $5M for the University of Victoria.

Sonia brings a deep and diverse background in field organizing, civic tech and democratic engagement, and an active commitment to bringing greater diversity into politics. Sonia is a sought-after advisor on communications, campaigning, organizing and leadership, and we’re fortunate to have her skills applied to help Leadnow.ca deliver on its mission to build and defend a just, sustainable, and equitable Canada.

The search also led us to consider some big questions about the best leadership model for Leadnow.ca’s future. We believe in the power of cooperation and power sharing to create healthier work dynamics and smarter decisions for the long-term. We asked ourselves if there was a better way to build those beliefs into the structure of the organization.

To that end, we asked Leadnow.ca’s Campaign Director, Logan McIntosh, to become Leadnow.ca’s Co-Executive Director. Logan began her career at Leadnow.ca in 2012, pioneering our distributed organizing model. As Campaign Director, she led Leadnow.ca’s high-impact campaign team on vital issues across Canada, including the fight to stop the Kinder Morgan pipeline, challenge the Canadian Pension Plan’s investments in President Trump’s child prisons, and push back against Premier Ford’s attack on the Ontario Greenbelt.

As Leadnow.ca’s Executive Director Lyndsay Poaps heads into her final days with the organization, we thank her for her leadership. Lyndsay’s leadership strengthened the organization and brought it into a new era. Today Leadnow.ca empowers hundreds of thousands of people across Canada, poised to campaign for an open democracy, fair economy and healthy environment in a complex political landscape.

We’re excited for Lyndsay’s next steps, thrilled about our new co-leaders Sonia and Logan, and grateful to all of you for your support and allyship through the years.

Thank you for all you do,

Marie-Marguerite Sabongui
Board Chair, Leadnow.ca
