Here’s the text of the open letter:

To the CEOs of the top six fossil fuel companies in Canada: Canadian Natural, Cenovus, ConocoPhillips, Imperial, Meg Energy, and Suncor;

As wildfires rage across the country, we are all facing a stark reminder of the need for bold and immediate action to reduce Canada’s carbon emissions and to set our country on the path to a liveable future.

For years, the fossil fuel industry has stood in the way of climate progress. You have lobbied to weaken urgently-needed climate policies and launched greenwashing campaigns to skirt accountability. Most recently, you have banded together to invest in the Pathways Alliance — a multi-million-dollar misinformation machine that presents falsehoods about the fossil fuel industry’s role in the climate crisis.

The public can see through Pathways Alliance’s greenwashing — and it’s time for it to end. We call on you to halt your funding to Pathways Alliance immediately, and to stop blocking the climate action we so desperately need.
