Late Monday night – after hours of debate and last-minute amendments – a historic motion in support of Palestine passed in the House of Commons.
The bolder points of the motion brought forward by the NDP – like the call to recognize Palestinian statehood – were watered down by the Liberals. But on many counts, this motion is a strong step forward.
It endorsed an end to arms exports to Israel – a measure advocates have called for since the conflict began last October. It reaffirmed Canada’s commitment to work toward a two-state solution, a ceasefire and the release of all hostages.
Your MP helped bring this critical motion forward. Will you send them a letter right now, thanking them for their work and encouraging them to keep up the fight until Canada delivers an airtight arms embargo and recognizes Palestine’s statehood?
