Call BC Ministers to support the Wet'suwet'en and revoke Coastal GasLink permits

Last Monday, RCMP officers with assault rifles and military fatigues swarmed Wet’suwet’en Territory in northern BC. Their mission: to forcibly remove Wet'suwet'en families and supporters from their unceded territory, to make way for a fracked gas pipeline.

All five clans of the Wet’suwet’en have unanimously opposed all pipeline proposals in their territory.

But John Horgan’s BC Government supports the pipeline, even though it does not have the free, prior and informed consent of the Wet’suwet’en and violates the United Nations Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

With Indigenous-led solidarity actions springing up across the globe and the story making international headlines, the BC Government is more vulnerable to public pressure than ever before. A flood of phone calls could convince them to respect the rights and laws of the Wet’suwet’en and revoke the permits for this dangerous project.

But with the government and company intending to continue construction without the community’s consent, we need to act fast. Will you call a key government Minister today and demand that they rescind the permits?

You can use the following talking points while on the call:

I’m calling to ask your government to immediately revoke the permits for this project until standards of Free Prior and Informed Consent under the United Nations Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) are met.

I’m horrified that heavily-armed RCMP officers are forcibly removing Wet'suwet'en people from their own territory.

All five Clans of the Wet’suwet’en have rejected all pipelines.

Coastal GasLink’s proposed pipeline does not have free, prior, and informed consent from the Wet’suwet’en.
