Call BC Ministers to support the Wet'suwet'en and revoke Coastal GasLink permits
URGENT: Heavily-armed RCMP officers have started to arrest Indigenous land defenders in Wet’suwet’en territories to help force through the Coastal Gaslink fracked gas pipeline.
Officers were authorized to use lethal force in a raid of the Wet’suwet’en land defenders last year -- and there’s a risk we could see more violence today unless we act fast.
A flood of phone calls could show the BC Government that thousands of people stand with Wet’suwet’en and convince them to slam the brakes on a militarized raid and respect Indigenous laws.
Will you call a BC Government Minister to demand that they respect Wet’suwet’en law by withdrawing the RCMP from Wet’suwet’en territories and slamming the brakes on the Coastal Gaslink pipeline?
You can use the following talking points while on the call:
I’m calling to ask that your government uphold your commitment to the United Nations Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), and respect Wet’suwet’en Law by withdrawing the RCMP from Wet’suwet’en Nation and cancelling Coastal GasLink’s permits.
I was horrified when heavily-armed RCMP officers forcibly removed Wet'suwet'en people from their own territory last year, and want to make sure your government doesn’t let this happen today.
All five Clans of the Wet’suwet’en have rejected all pipelines. Coastal GasLink’s proposed pipeline does not have free, prior, and informed consent from the Wet’suwet’en. Coastal GasLink and the RCMP are trespassing on sovereign Wet’suwet’en land.
