Call a Minister to protect BC's wild salmon

We’ve got one week to tell the BC Government to evict fish farms from the Broughton Archipelago. On June 20th, the BC Government has to decide whether to renew land tenures that will allow toxic fish farms that are threatening wild salmon to continue to operate.

Fish farms operating in the Broughton Archipelago without the consent of the Mamalilikala, Namgis, and Musgamagw Dzawada'enuxw  are poisoning vital water sources, spreading deadly diseases to wild salmon, and putting an entire ecosystem at risk in the name of profits.

We need to remind the government that they made a promise to British Columbians to uphold the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples -- and that granting licenses to fish farm owners without the consent of indigenous communities is in direct violation of it.

Call a cabinet Minister now, and demand that the BC Government refuse to renew land tenures for fish farms in the Broughton Archipelago.

Our tool will transfer you to a Minister's office to leave a message on their voicemail or with their staff. Make sure your phone is handy, and then enter your information (including your phone number) on this page, and we'll connect you to the Minister's office.

Not sure what to say? Feel free to use these simple talking points:
  • I'm one of the 75% of people across British Columbia who want toxic fish farms out of BC.
  • Fish farms in the Broughton Archipelago do not have the consent of impacted First Nations, and allowing them to continue to operate goes against your party’s promise to uphold the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
  • There are alternative options to open-net fish farming, such as farming fish in closed pens on the land, that would be a much safer option for our ecosystems.
  • I know that land tenures for fish farms in the Broughton Archipelago are up for renewal on June 20th, and I want to urge the Minister to speak out against any plans to renew them.
  • Please protect BC’s wild salmon, and evict fish farms from the Broughton Archipelago.
