The climate crisis is reaching a fever pitch in Canada. In just the past week, raging wildfires have forced the evacuation of entire cities like Kelowna and Yellowknife^1,2, – and left many others without homes to return to.

All across the country, we’re coming face-to-face with a terrifying new reality. But while Canadians flee their homes and breathe in noxious smoke,³ our politicians are on vacation from the climate crisis.

Last year, Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault promised the government would move fast to create an emissions cap policy to reign in the ever-increasing pollution of Big Oil. The draft regulations were expected “by early 2023” — but policymakers have yet to deliver.⁴

Parliament resumes in less than a month – and with Canada on fire, our politicians need to know that Canadians won’t stand for a single minute more of climate delay.
