Pitch in to help us reach youth to call for RBC to divest from fossil fuels
RBC is reeling. After getting hit by an intense celebrity backlash calling them out for their toxic fossil fuel investments, on the day of their AGM they faced wave after wave of negative headlines for their role in financing dirty oil, gas, and coal. [1,2]
They’re feeling the heat. If we want to get RBC to change their ways, we need to make sure we dial up the pressure so they get the message: continuing on this path will mean irrevocable damage to RBC’s reputation and bottom line.
So here’s the plan for what’s next. One of RBC’s key audiences is young people: they have a slick PR campaign targeting youth, aiming to reach new life-long customers. [3] Young people are also some of the boldest leaders demanding ambitious climate action today. [4] If we can reach them with powerful messages about RBC’s dodgy climate record — we can show RBC one of their key growth audiences are catching wind of their toxic investments and turning away from them in droves as a result.
With your help, we can launch a powerful influencer campaign targeting young people with ads from key sustainability influencers. We’ve already identified popular influencers on platforms like TikTok, and have plans to work with them to develop strategic messaging to get the word out about RBC. Our goal is simple—highlight RBC’s shady fossil fuel investments and mobilize youth to sign a pledge to never bank with RBC.
To make this happen, we need to raise $12,241 by midnight on Sunday, May 1st. With RBC on the back foot, we need to strike while the iron’s hot — will you chip in now to help us reach young people on social media about RBC’s toxic climate record?
